Biography

I am new to writing poetry. I primarily joined OriginalPoetry.com to follow a friend's poetry. I write a “meta blog” to provide knowledge, skills and awareness for unfolding a new life. I am compiling my knowledge of emotional and spiritual development into books to further assist people in creating a more harmonious and cooperative way of life.

My passion is guiding people to create the life that they want. A life in which they can be happy and part of something that fulfills them. I have long been concerned that many people are lonely, unfulfilled, and without the things that are most important to them. The conformity and demands of our current culture often take people away from their dreams and the individual expression of their being. The cost is huge on a personal and societal level. I believe people have left behind some essential elements of being human: being “one of the people”, experiencing personal expression and closeness, and genuinely caring about each other.

As a transformational speaker, I conduct “Metamorphosis” retreats, “Transformation” classes, and individual and couples sessions to allow people to reclaim the life they want. These venues explore and clarify what people are seeking and allow them to see the possibilities and inroads available to them. Participants are walked through their entire change process or metamorphosis into their desired life. The work is experiential and eclectic. The interventions were chosen purely on the basis of their effectiveness and efficiency to effect change. It draws primarily on Zen thought, Native American ceremony, rites-of-passage, personal belief systems, and Jungian dreamwork and symbolism. It works with whatever spiritual beliefs you have.

I earned my Bachelor of Science in Psychology in 1987 and Master of Social Work in 1996. In addition to his formal education, I studied and apprenticed with a Zen Master and spiritual teacher for 22 years to learn how to effect change with people. I have with people professionally since 1986- mostly as a psychotherapist.

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.
