Biography

I am an artist of the brush and during my college years I did not have my supplies with me and was depressed. I went to my my poetry teacher and consoled in her and she said, "Olan, I can teach you to paint with words." I have been writing poetry ever since thanks to Sarah Barnhart and Delores Malachek; my mentors.

I meant a real novel not just the long poems. Ever thought about it?

Well, how long is long, lol. I have one manuscript at over 500,000 thousand words and enough plots and sub-plots to trip a horse, smile. Yes, I have been thinking about it a long time and the narratives poems are taken from a book of adventure for children to read. It is only at 224 pages, so far. I start a lot of projects and have had the bug for a long time to write a novel. In 2003 I had the bug strike for real but due to injuries and illnesses I had to set it aside for a bit. This site has renewed that interest and it will get done, the Lord willing and the computer hard drive doesn't crash.

Poetry is finer and more philosophical than history; for poetry expresses the universal, and history only the particular.
