    Poetry Is Loving You

Poetry is loving you, as beautiful as the color blue,
The sunshine on a cloudless day, and all the little
    things you say.
Loving you is like the Forth of July, the sparkle that
    is in your eyes,
The tears that only you make fall, the bluebirds
    heeding winters call.
The Fourth of July is seeing you, and all the crazy
    things you do,
Its the summer smell thats in the air, the things that
    let you know I care.
Seeing you is a rising stone, the way I feel when
    we're alone,
The simple things, the pretty dove, the way it feels
    to be in love.
A rising stone is a never ending story, a rose, a
    bloom, a morning glory,
A life long tell thats never ending, my heart that
    only you are mending.
A never ending story last forever, its you and me when
    we're together,
Promise, trust, and love thats true, poetry is just
    loving you.

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
