Proud to be Black and Puerto Rican

An infant being held in my mother's arms she said to me,
My pride and joy who will be proud to be Black and Puerto Rican.

A little light skinned girl playing with her friends and they soon discover that she's not the same color,
But she doesn't care. Why? Because she's proud to be Black and Puerto Rican.

A young teenager not fully blossomed is always on top of things
Everyone thinks she's a goody goody girl beacuse of her character,
But she doesn't care because she's proud to be Black and Puerto Rican.

A young adult with hazel eyes, long wavy hair, light caramel complexion, full figured body, full of enthusiasm and pizzaz,
Everyone stops to stare and whisper because she has so much class and a great personality in which you can see very clear by the way she carries herself because she's proud to be Black and Puerto Rican.

A friendly person, a people's magnet, someone who walks down the the street with her head held up high is envyed by some and adored by most,
But she doesn't care because she's proud to be Black and Puerto Rican and you wouldn't understand.
