    Ritual Sacrifice

    Black ~ Blue

    Keloid skin:

    s c a r r e d  . .

                      wounds so deep

                                  tattooed
                                   imbued

                                                                    carved into

                                                                    our collective
                                                                    consciousness

                                                                                                             s a v a g e r y :

                                                                                                             foments agony
                                                                                                             not forgotten how

                                                                                                               arouse memories
                                                                                                         still remembered now
                        threads of woven woes
                        come undone
                                               a tapestry
                        of besieged confinement
                        imprints terror

                                                                        the stench of decay
                                                                        wafts among the sails
                                                                           and rides the waves

                                                                        billowing canvases
                                                                             tormented souls
    f l e s h   b u r n s :

                         an acrid sting
                         branded and owned

                         knots . .

                         on the cat-o-nine
                               call my name

                         I ignore them . . .

                                                                       n e u r o n s :

                                                                             struggle
                                                                             to forget

                                                                                                             amnesia is salvation

                                                                                                                          wanting not . .
                                                                                                                        to remember
                                                                                                                               the ritual
                                                                                                                                sacrifice

                                                                              wanting not :

                                                                             to remember

                                                                                 the assault
                                                                                   to psyche
                                                                                             and
                                                                                        person
                                                                                             and

                                                                                     S O U L
