Serene Waters

Serene Waters

Quiet and calm these waters lay still,
A peaceful serenity no matter the will.
Since the beginning of time it's fair to see,
A certain calm happens to be.
Now as a massive tension in the earth does grow,
A colossal storm begins to blow.
Strong winds howling across the lake,
Causing these waters to roil and shake.
This body of water always silent,
May now become a whirlpool so violent.
Hotter and stronger as it continues to boil,
Constantly hit with tremendous turmoil.
All it will take is a slight tremor,
For this once peaceful serenity to be lost forever.

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, American Poet (1803-1882)
