Silent Tears

Silent Tears

I could not help but notice as the day turned into night
that it was indeed your time to leave
you were turning towards the light.
You promised somehow I'd get through it, for I had known all along
eventually god would take you, although your will was iron strong

As you spoke, one silent tear rolled down your paled cheek
you whispered you were leaving, your body was so weak
you said your life on earth had ended
it was time for you to leave
you asked me not to cry
but only to believe

I must open my heart to see you, a butterfly in flight,
a sudden breeze amongst the heat
a shooting star in the night.
I must open my heart to see you, close my eyes, say a prayer
I must keep my heart open
and forever you'll be near.

One silent tear rolls down my lonely cheek.

See I told you people would like your poems. What's not to like? Now no more faux shyness ... writie them and share them.

thank you! I appreciate you taking time to read!

If I feel physically as if the top of my head were taken off, I know that is poetry.
