    slavery

the pyramids were built by slaves
    who loved their masters
    and loved their work

free men who chose to be slaves
    to the freer men
    who called themselves gods

free men now choose to be slaves
    to men up high
    who call us all equal

this city was built by slaves
    who love money
    and love working for it

    so true,so true

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
