    Soft

Soft as a newborn kitten, soft as a newly hatched chick, soft as a new puppy-
My thoughts are tender, new and fragile-I haven't spoken about them yet,
I'm afraid of the response I will get so I keep them warm, swaddled and safe just like I would keep a kitten, puppy or chick-not ready for judgements.

Soft these thoughts flutter around in my head like a butterfly trying its brand new wings-soft like flower petals falling from the flowers in my vase, soft as pillows filled with down these thoughts struggle against my will to be free
They beat down my defenses with feather softness and tell me that to live they must be free-NOW

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, American Poet (1803-1882)
