STANDING TALL

STANDING TALL

Not many bother anymore

Seldom hear that knocking at the door

Sure do miss a friendly "hello;"

Open friends sometimes close their minds.

But there's no bending of the knee

Even though these legs do so easily tire,

Because these arms are made of iron

And this chair has wheels of fire. ~

A sad truth to your poem, Sir. Many people do turn their backs on those who are handicap, or can no longer do the things they wish to do. I do appreciate your undying spirit that you portray in your last four lines. Never give up, never give in, and never look back. Really beautiful poem about one of life's saddest truths. Thank you for sharing. 10 from me.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
