    Strange Faces

Life is full fo strangers -
    They come and they go
    Either to be seen again
Or never to be heard from.
    The strange faces
    Somewhat familiar
    But unrecognizable.
    "Hi! How are you?"
    But inactuality
    Not caring.
    The courtesy is returned
    Yet unfeeling.
    The smiles.
    The forced laughs.
    And nodding heads.
    The fake enthusiasm
    In senseless conversation.
    All a waste of time
    But considered proper etiquette

Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion.

    T. S. Eliot (1888-1965) American-English poet and playwright.
