Tears of Africa

Tears of Africa

 Morning enters to bullets serenade

Independence Day it is not, there is no parade!

Our hearts march a drum beat of fear

The morning sky is smoked with despair

We walk through a maze of bloated cadavers

Reminisce of the night’s reckless savage

Stanch of death lives in my mind

Nightmares become day mares intertwine

As night fall the sky lanterns with explosives

One begin to wonder, what is the real motive?

Puppet rebels killing for greed

War lords and tyrants cannot admit to their dirty deeds

Gun nozzles stare with out a blink

Hungers grip so tight I can’t even think

Rape and molestation is the order of the day

People disenchanted... they can’t even pray

Starving babies cling to mothers’ breast

At times I wonder if God is putting us to a test

Once a land of riches and gold

Now a battle ground where the young kills the old

Africa is crying tears of blood

Please! Please! Help us; we are drowning in this flood

The land suffocates from gun smoke hold

It is time for us to be courageous and bold

Bold and beautiful

Reclaiming the past

Taking the torch from the lands of great

Songhay

Mali

Timbuktu

Nubia

Kemet

Somaliland

Monumutapa

And Kenam -Bornu

We stand at a critical junction of history

The battle ground is everywhere,

There is no sheltered rear,

We lift up the light in the mist of darkness,

And we trust that the moon shall guide us,

Africa let us wake to the morning dew of new hopes and prosperity.

Africa, dry your tears, silence your guns, and return to greatness!

Your words are like bitters..you hate to read them because it takes us back to the trails of despair but once you read it..a feeling of truth soars through the blood stream..one love bro.

Africa will return to greatness! Such a wonderful, beautiful, amazing country! A dream to fulfill in my travel book. You have manage to arrange painful phrases into a golden masterpiece. Once can feel the depth in which the pain abides. A great read, a must-read for me! Thank you for sharing!

Thank you for the inspirational words and caring words. Dr. King said "injustice anywhere, is a threat to justice everywhere". So indeed the atrocities in Africa and all over the world is an atrocity for all those who love peace and stand for the liberation of humanity. thank you so much for reading my experience!

There is always a Black Africa somewhere when we live in hate. I wish for history to be white and clean but it will never be so. A sad but good read.

If I feel physically as if the top of my head were taken off, I know that is poetry.

Emily Dickinson (1830-1886) American poet.
