The Bell Tower

Living pagan inside the Bell Tower
Amusement of that escapes no one
I have finally managed to become…
None other, the notorious Bell Witch
Living amongst the changing mountains
At the summit of the steepest of hills
Under swarms of creepy black birds
As a hawk circles ever repetitively
Barrier of protection respected deeply
Familiar dark cat encircles my feet
Brilliance of Rats for each shoulder
Dancing with me to musical memoirs
Windows show me Earths many moods
With near opaque abundance and stature
Her tears descending ever rampantly
Flashes of fury shown from each angle
Spirits of the past stand and observe
Aware that finally someone hears them
Telling their long tales of harder times
When striped carpets and loud colors
Made sense with wall prints of Ice trucks
Chandeliers aged a couple hundred years
Dimly lighting a lobby fit for the King
Doors Barriers to those who don’t belong
Key to this world must be worn always
Not quite a dead zone but care given
Standing in specific spots begets silence
Until the black banana bunches of bats
Flock screaming into the dusk of the day
Smiling with glee I pull on my dark robes
And call for the entity from the long ago
Who knew before I ever graced this world
Darkness does not fall beside evil’s sword
But uses those concealing hues to envelop
Those who respect the darkest of nights
Entering Moon’s lair even while she hides
The Bell Tower will beckon me in due time.

I like "creepy black birds" and "brilliance of rats" and especially the last 5 lines

very well written. I enjoyed it.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
