The Calling

The Calling

I see the fast days go by
as quick as a blink of an eye
I can hardly tell what the day will bring
when i long to hear the angels sing
I hear a calling far off in the distance
for me, hoping there will be a new life
for me to see.
I go, but only to find the man of my
dreams i left behind.

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
