    The duplicity of love!

    I ask you to be honest with me, and always trust that I will understand.
    You say it isn’t happening and always find somewhere else to stand
    Questions arise and answers retreat, true faith in the street.
    You pace the room telling me that it never happened, yet you stare at your feet.
    The eyes never lie, or so “they” say;
    But when defending yourself they seem to stray.

    When first I learned, I felt my love betrayed!
    Unknown to me was the extent of the confession delayed.
    Then a thought occurred, and I was determined to save the day;
    And at this point I feel there can be no more to say.

    The love I bear you has no real gate;
    Without you all our plans truly dissipate.
    If you feel the same, the time draws Nye.
    I wish we had a trust again, without another lie.
    My time is short, but my feelings run deep.
    When our communication fails, I would lose sleep.

    What if I was to do the same to you, how would you react?
    What if I decided to just leave things raw, completely retract?
    How could I mistake the way you feel for me;
    Come and admit your faults, to set yourself free.

    When looking back at us, remember how I tried;
    When realizing your mistake, remember who it was that lied!
