The Future of Me

The mirror only shows what I expected to see.
I am the sole controller of my destiny.
I grow, I change only according to me
The things I perceive and accept shape my reality.
Your perception of me is based on what I allow you to see and what you are open to read.
Look with your eyes and you may see my faults.
Look with your heart you may see me, the seed for which God has wrought.
Will you see me or my skin.
My hair or the kindness i hold within.
Will you judge me according to society's norms?
What can you really tell if you don't know me?
Can you look past my height, my weight, my hair, my skin, my sex, my clothes.
If you cannot I simply ask you this, how can you see past my heart and only acknowledge the physical me.
You fail to see my soul, created in his image ad shapened by his lve.
Im not a size 10, my skin may not be smooth, my hair may not be straight.
You can label me how you want: Ugly, Sexy, Rich or Poor.
These words can never define my being, for i am a child of the King.
Judge me by my works if you judge me at all.
Listen to my words. See my heart and see my soul
Know me where I stand.
Here, in my beautiful imperfect skin.
The person I am, the Woman I aim to be, Lie soley in the hands of me. My words speak life, Again the mirror only shows me what i want to see.
You can judge me based on anything but, im telling you know "You Can't Stop Me." The lord is my light, You shall i not fear.
What God has for me is for me and he has a perfect plan on getting me there.

Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion.
