The light in the dark

The light in the dark

The scars of life tell a story of battles fought and won.
Battles never lost, only lessons to be learned,
time, and time again, until we learn them right.

Our darkest moments illuminating light yet to come.

The pains we walk on with add a depth to who we are.
The hurt in me, helps me see the pain in you, disguised as anger, and
hurtful deeds, and lends compassion where otherwise judgement might
rule.

There is a light not seen with the eye, that feeds a thirsty soul.
This light is called love and gives meaning to this thing called life.

Love given from your heart, to all you meet, will mend your wounded soul.
So when you are in despair, and can't seem to find any hope, find
someone in need of a friend, and live this thing called love.

Thanks.. I wrote it last night when I was reading other people's poems about not wanting to go on and seeing no hope.. There is always light when we really look for it. :-)

If I feel physically as if the top of my head were taken off, I know that is poetry.

Emily Dickinson (1830-1886) American poet.
