    The Story of Us

So many nights I was on that stage,

    shaking my a*s for money.

So many nights on that pole,

    looking for my honey.

    I ate my beans,

    and shoveled snow.

    I drank every night,

    and became a sideline ho.

Trying to find love in my purple haze,

    I couldn't see,

    the errors of my ways.

    Then one night,

    you appeared.

    It was that moment,

that the purple haze had cleared.

    I fell so hard,

    and called you my Savior.

    I'm so sorry,

    for my unjust behavior.

I didn't write "Dear Dad" on a whim,

it's just that when I look in the mirror,

    I see him.

    Now,

can you connect the pieces of my broken heart?

    Do you see,

    why I fell apart?
