    The Sun and the Moon

The stars twinkled in the night as she asked me, "What am I to you?"
The full moon shone bright as I said, "Oh, if you only knew"
"That I am your only love?", she asked,"I know that, I do"
"Many women have heard this," I replied,"yet they do not know if it is true"
"Where does your heart lie?", she whimpered with tears in her face.
"I am sorry, my sweet, but my heart is in another place"
She turned to leave, I did not let her go.
"Wait," I whispered,"there is something you should know"
"My heart is in a higher place and yours is too.
Yours burns with a passion while mine is cool and blue.
The world is yours by day and mine by night
But the key to our bond is your love and your light
It is what I need from you--from your heart to mine
Without it I am swallowed by darkness, but with it I have the brightest shine.
When my heart cannot be seen, you believe that from you I try to hide
But truly I tell you I have left the endless sky to be by your side
She asked me sweetly once more, "What could I possibly be to you?"
"Everything," I reassured her, "You are my Sun and I your Moon"
"And for this reason I could not live without you........."

I TRULY LUV this poem!! I understand exactly where she and u are coming from. A woman always wants 2 know a mans heart, 2 see if u and her are in the same place. Beautiful wordz and beautifully expressed...luv

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
