    The Willow

I dont weep anymore for my childhood
    or
the things that might have been
    for
    Ive found strength and perseverance
like the willow when it bends
    The Weeping Willow
    its strong and willowy boughs
bending deep in the strong winds
    its elegant sweeping dance
    saying
    you cant break me
    I will dance
    I am strong
    and like the Willow
i will stand tall and straight in the face
    of fear
    of storms
    and I will bend
    but I will not break
    the wind will die
    the day will calm
    and
    I will carry on

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
