TWO HEARTS

Two Hearts
To the Aborted Millions

Two hearts sound out a rhythm,

Two hearts beat as one.

One heart beat for twenty years,

One heart had just begun.

Two hearts were so filled with life,

Two hearts together in pain.

One heart was huddled up in fear,

One heart hid in her shame.

One heart strong and seasoning,

One heart weak and frail,

One heart struggles with a choice,

One heart may not prevail.

One heart thrashing, full of fear.

One heart can't understand,

One heart abandoned her duties

One heart dies at her hand.

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
