Well Being

Well Being
I stood alone on the hill with broken
dreams and a heart that beat still.
I cried to the sky and to the mountains
and to the lands across the sea.
No one heard, no one came, and the sun
did not stop shining nor the earth stop turning.
Why? I asked the sky, and the sky answered "Perhaps you are only one".
Why? I asked the mountain, and the
mountain replied "Perhaps you are too small".
Why? I asked the lands across the sea,
and they returned an answer "Perhaps you are too far away"
I thought there for a long while
and wondered why, then I knew,I just knew,
I was part of a bigger picture.
I was the single leaf falling from
a beautiful tree, and it was time for me leave.

this is a great piece of work. very philosophical. i was once told that individuality will be the demise of a civilization because we all belong to something greater than ourselves. perhaps you heard this once too?

very nicely done

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, American Poet (1803-1882)
