    Poem Commentary

I wrote this poem as a memorial to my father.

    When Heaven Called

    In Memory of Tim Barbaree

                When Heaven Called

    By Rhett Barbaree

When heaven called you did not wait

But strolled right through the Spirits gate

And climbed the mountain to that Holy Place

Then reached and touched the Father’s face

You saw the one who is I Am

And grasped the precious risen Lamb

Who wiped all sadness from your face

And cast your sin away with grace

Embraced your loved ones as angels pranced

And joined the joy of Heavens dance

In my quietness I see you still

And hope at times to make it real

But you have gone on angel’s flight

And tasted the sweetness of the light

With no more sorrow, no more pain

Our great loss is heavens gain
