    when they died

    When they died
    Helter skelter people scurried
    To mourn the dead
    And mourn the deceased
Splitting through the panorama, the tum tum drums glared
    Dirges were sung with sobs
Spring of tears the ambience sprawled
    Even from the hard hearted
    Knees impaired
With sweet memories darkening their hearts

The glimmering sun has gone into hiding
Eerie darkness has engulfed the world
Their shimmering faces the moon and the stars have covered
Tap! Tap! Copious hearts have abruptly stopped
Tick! Tick! Numerous hearts have seized
With blissful faces the dirges are sung
    Mourning is for the deceased
    Deceased for the dead
At my enemy yesterday the tent landed
At my friends today it will be
In my home tomorrow it will arrive
In the tents then we shall be living

    “He died?”
    “He was buried?”
    The holes of their ears
With cotton have forcefully been stuffed
    People now rush no more
Empathy and sympathy the beats have no more
    What is amiss?

Poetry is either something that lives like fire inside you or else it is nothing, an empty formalized bore around which pedants can endlessly drone their notes and explanations.
