    A Dying Man's Farewell

    A Dying Man's Farewell

I will soon lay down my burdens and cares,
And then leave for others all life's affairs.
When we just have everything figured out,
It's time to pack up and leave behind all doubt.
We always have so much left to be done,
Because the ending has so soon begun.
I lived life to the full with all it could send,
But everything has a beginning and an end.

Remember, that every life is short and brief,
So I beg you never to have or feel any grief.
Please forgive me for just passing through,
This short time on earth that I had with you.
But know that among all women, I chose you.
So don't think of my leaving as anything bad,
Because you were the best choice I had,
And keep that in mind if you ever feel sad.

If ever you call out my name, even from afar,
In spirit, I'll be there, wherever you are.
I want to make it for you very clear,
That I will shield you from all harm and fear.
For all the time that I was with you here,
    Please remember and forever know,
That from ages past and long years ago,
I have and will always love you so.
And be sure, that on the other side of time,
    You will always be mine.
