    A Gift From God

A wondrous gift from God above
My heart has never felt such love

The years have come, the years have gone
Oh my, how they have flown

That baby boy with the pouty face
Is now a man through God's good grace

Thank you God for my son
Without this gift what would I've done?

His boyish smile will not fade
His twinkling eyes I would not trade

A gift from God I cherish so
More than anyone will ever know

    All the riches cannot compare
To the son entrusted to my care

Thank you God for my son
Without this gift what would I've done?

A wonderful gift, a gift of love
Could only come from God above

A gift from God, a gift so pure
Of nothing else am I so sure

I love this boy who's now a man
This was with God's helping hand

Thank you God for my son
Without this gift what would I've done?

Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion.
