Poem Commentary

This is my first poem please be honest with your criticism

A New Beginning

Sitting, nonpareil-
Watching the fan rotate
Wondering if the fan knows its sole purpose
I know that mine is the same, living only to serve others
Some say that knowledge can lead you
Knowledge has led me to this room
This room vacant apart from overturned furniture and a heart prostrate on the floor
Dreams, hopes, and aspiring thoughts all dispersed
Gone- replaced with only detrimental desires pointing towards repetition, rafters, ropes

Illumination- this dark and dreary reality cast away
This disease, this plague, an end in sight
Teaching, preaching to break away- A modern day Thoreau
This light is something foreign
It is accompanied by a stranger
"Who are you!?"
"I am a new beginning, i brought love."

A forlorn and melancholy theme that breaks into the light as it ends. Very nice write.
