A Poem For Jeni

She picks a dandelion that she presents like a rose,
Her contagious smile growing til it wrinkles her nose.

My little tomboy in tattered pants, wearing sister's too big shirt
Makes a butterfly transormation slipping into a lace-edged skirt.

She's happiness and joy, worth much more than gold.
She controls my very heartstrings with her treasures untold.

She's my sunshine and spring showers, more precious than the smallest pearl.
She's an innocent, loving spirit, my brown-eyed, freckled girl.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
