A Poem For Tami

All tiny and pink from head to toe,
this infant babe that I love so.
I closed my eyes to take a rest
As she snuggled against my breast.
To my wonder, time didn't stand still;
In a fleeting moment she was running up hills,
My little imp with eyes of blue
began to discover everything new.
Overnight she was in her teens,
Asserting herself and creating scenes.
My little girl was growing up fast;
Holding her became a thing of the past.
Watching her glide along the sand
With a young boy, hand in hand,
I know our closeness will never end
Because now I'm her confidant and her friend.
I miss her little girl's gleeful shout
but I'm proud of her beauty, both inside and out

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
