A Slave’s’ Story

Weep ole wind, and carry my name

Tell my story, of love and pain

Reveal my life, to those that come

To hear of my journey, and where I was from

Tell my story, and how you knew

Of how I searched the whole night through

To find out what was happening to me

Tell my story for those to see

The pain that came, to me that day

They placed me in chain, and took me away

From everything that I came to know

Tell my story, and tell it slow

That from my hands a nation would rise

The cost was nothing, but only our lives

So tell my story of love and pain

Weep ole wind, and carry my name
