    A Year of Grief

We never thought you would leave,
A year later we still grieve.
    Wondering why God took you,
We still can't believe it's true.
It is still so hard for us to believe,
There was so much left for you to achieve.
As your mom still deals with losing her child,
The rest of us are missing your smile.
    The fun times had together,
    We will miss you forever.
You knew how to make us laugh,
Now it's a thing of the past.
Now that you are gone we are all so sad,
We never believed it would hurt this bad.
Maybe tomorrow the grief will subside,
For now in each other we will confide.

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, American Poet (1803-1882)
