    Alone

    Alone
    I watch the happy faces
    Smiling
Smiling, their cold and hideous grins
    Waiting
Waiting, until the frail string snaps
    Plummeting my decay
    Into the sea –
    The terror
    Of when I’m awake

    Lost
    Floating
    Fading
    Pulled by currents strong
    Unable to control
    The tidal wave
    Of my emotions

    No
    Not now
    I cannot bear this
    I will not be
    Exposed

But too late are my cries
Too fast the tears do rise

    Eyes
    All staring
    Into my soul

    A soul
    Now known whole

    Confused
    Disturbed
    They back away

    Unlike the masses
    I remain
    Alone

Poetry is not the expression of personality but an escape from personality.
