    An Old Flame

I tried to drown my old flame with my tears.
It seems she knew the depth of my fears.

She grab me and pulled me toward the fire.
I know inside me she is still my heart desire.

I tried to escape and I fell at her feet.
Lying there in agony and defeat.

Die old flame I screamed to the fire.
My old flame would not die in the fire.

One part of me wanted her to die in the flame.
Can I actually say she is to blame.

Her memories still haunts me in my sleep.
For my love for her still runs deep.

Why can't I forget the past?
Be free of her at last.

I tried to over come my fears.
I tried to drown her with my tears.

Her love will always be in my heart to keep.
Now I just sit by the fire and watch my old flame and weep.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
