Because My Heart Can't Tell A Lie by Ernestine Lee

My words from thought speak out set free
From where they've been here inside of me
My words are true, to the day I die
Because my heart can't tell a lie
Somethings I say may not sound true
Far fetched they sound as I talk to you
But if I lied may soul would die
Because my heart can't tell a lie
My subjects change yet loving you
My words flow forth my words are true

From time to time, and by and by
Because my heart can't tell a lie
I am sorry for the tongues that lie
Where spoken words falls out all lies
But remember God He set us free
Where heart can't lie, and the truth we see

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

    Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
