    beneath the skin

there's nothing there beneath the skin
nothing precious that you hold within
i use to think you were the one till you took my soul
    and now your gone
i tried to live not just exist
i didn't have a clue it would end like this
you spoke of love,i paid the cost
and now your gone and my soul is lost
I'll try to find it like i did before
i just hope i don't fall flat on the floor
i was living in two places, night and day
and both times i love you the exact insane way
so maybe i should go cause to stay would just seem senseless
when we were lovers you were armed and i was left defenseless
and now I'm just an empty shell
sadness and pain is where i dwell
and though you were my favorite sin
there's nothing there beneath the skin
