Bird Caged

I’m flying under radar,

Because my wings have been clipped;

While the sum of all my fears,

Is a conscience that’s being whipped.

My dreams haunt my brain,

As the cold sweat leaves a trail;

But the system won’t win this time,

even though it’s designed for me to fail.

This virus is slowly taking me over,

As it poisons the whole of my mind;

My life has me on 24 hour lockdown,

And I’m quickly running out of time.

But who can cancel out this darkness,

When hate spreads like a plague;

The eastern sunrise is known for its burn,

Though it is the light that guides the way.

My dreams haunt my brain,

as the cold sweat leaves a trail;

the nightmares are the system they’ve invented,

even though it’s designed for me to fail.

Knowledge is the meal of my survival,

as I am starved daily for nourishment

though prison has become a major part of me,

it’s full course meal is abject discouragement

This virus is slowly taking me over,

as it poisons the whole of my mind;

My life has me on 24 hour lockdown,

and I’m quickly running out of time.

But who can cancel out this darkness,

when hate spreads like a plague;

I know God is the answer to this question,

So I lean on His angels to light my way.

Yet I sometimes I still find myself trapped,

deep inside the sublime of a plastic bubble;

Knowing that every move I make,

could push me into another wall of trouble.

So my duality makes me question the questions

of this confusing life that I live

In trying to figure out what comes next

in the marriage of pain and what it gives

So I leave my circumstances in wake,

Though poverty has me hidden behind a wall;

Still my soul fights to taste real freedom,

Because my soul refuses to dive or take a fall
