    Birthday Wish

    I wish I could call,
But the number I have isn’t right.
I wish I could send an Ecard,
But I couldn’t find the site.
I wish I could swim there,
But it turned out to be too far,
And if I could drive there,
I would wish I had car.
Since the car couldn’t get there,
I didn’t bother to wish about the train.
But I wished I had the money,
So I could take the plane.
    I’m sitting here thinking,
    How life isn’t fair.
    Why today is your birthday,
    And why I’m not there.
    I had it planned out,
After I got my car from the garage.
I’d take u from shopping to the spa,
    To get your 3:30 Massage
Believe me I’ll make it up,
    No matter what it takes.
    Oh before I forget,
Where the heck is my cake.

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
