    Broken In Time

With Every beat of my heart,
    With every breath I take,
With every tear from my eye,
This is more then I can shake.

My heart I gave to you
    With all the love within
Only to have you use it
    And give it back again.

    Little does it matter now
    No more can you see
    Your body lies lifeless
    Helpless as can be.

The words I speak to you
    Your ears will never hear
Your cold flesh can’t feel my touch
    Be that I’m still here.

Here for you in life and death
    I shall always be
I’ll place the flowers upon your grave
    And weep so tenderly.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
