    bruises

    its that gorgeous grin

    that just sucks you in

and he wont let you go

and you dont want him to know

that you dont want him to leave

you just hope that you could be

    the one he calls special

    you love his eyes

and hope what he says are lies

you dont want him to hurt himself

and yet you let him hurt you

you wont admit that what i say is true

that he's got your skin black and blue

you know you're one in many

but you still love his company

    it drives you crazy

because you might have his baby

    he treats you like crap

    your stuck in his trap

    thats exactly what he wanted

he makes you feel like dirt

when he drags you by your shirt

you try to learn to just deal with it

you gotta get out of that relationship

    because slowly your losing grip

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
