Chains

You lock me away

chain me down

put me behind

a barb wire fence

with your words

you kill me

whip me

tear me apart

bit by bit

every mock

every jeer

makes the chains heavier

weigh me down more

but still I stand

Still I live on.

I don't hate you

never have

so then why

do you feel the need

to chain me down?

Franz Kafka (1883-1924) Czech writer.
