Change We Can Believe In

We’ve come this far by faith
And a long road is up ahead
As I walk in the shadow of death
I tell you that I’m not scarred
It’s a different day in America
I feel so fresh and brand new
As if I can run a marathon
And I wonder if you feel it too
There will be haters around you
And won’t share your victory
They won’t care about your future
Or that we’ve made history
But don’t react to such ignorance
Let the God in you unfurl
For greater He is that is in me
Than he that is in the world
Barack Obama is now President
And I say “Yes we can”
The message is not just for blacks
But for people all over this land
And people all over this world
Because God loves all of us
So please be fervent in prayer
For it is in our God we trust
And now the story begins…..
Once upon a time
A black man became President
Reinforced your dreams and mine
Go OBAMA! By Sophie B. 11/5/08

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.

John F. Kennedy (1917-1963) Thirty-fifth President of the USA
