    History Has Won My Heart

One thing that we must not discard
And tuck so gently inside our hearts
Are the ones that suffered to set us free
The Heroes that died for you and me

The ones that cared to pave the way
So we would see a brighter day
To inherit a kingdom that was given
And enjoy a world that we must live in

Stood strong in battle to win the fight
To set us on a greater height
How brave they were to release the words
In order we’d get our voices heard

They worked to find the perfect cure
Of future things we shouldn’t endure
Somehow those things escaped the trap
So it’s up to us to close the gap

Take heart the words of Dr. King
Lend hands to make our freedom ring
Open our minds to much greater things
And we shall live as Kings and Queens

Always be mindful and don’t forget
That our History is not over yet
Remember to keep on paving ways
To build a future of brighter days

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, American Poet (1803-1882)
