Children of My Heart
Children of My Heart
-By Deborah HIller
It comes so very easy for most,
Whose families arrive on time.
For us the wait was torture,
In my heart you were already mine.
We waited while God gave you to someone else,
Year after year went by.
When I think of how much you must have hurt,
It makes me want to cry.
A mom who didn’t know what a gift she’d been given,
While we waited with holes in our heart.
A daddy who didn’t spend time with you,
While we waited for our chance to start.
From place to place you were sent,
To people who just didn’t care.
That you are so important to us,
The gift from God so rare.
Our hearts are now so full with joy,
you are no longer to roam.
The children of my heart,
God meant to give us,
Now, finally, are home.
Dedicated to my beautiful adopted daughters,
Magen and Christina
