    COME LAY DOWN BESIDE ME

    Come lay down beside me
    Come lay very near
    Erase all my sorrows
    Ease all my fears

    Lay close beside me
    Yet lay very still
Let the warmth of your body
    Replace my cold chill

    Kiss me very softly
    But speak not a word
    Let the silence not spoken
Be the words that are heard

    Wrap your love around me
Let me hold you all night
    And stay in my arms
    ‘Til morning’s new light

    Forgot all my troubles
    Forgot all my woes
I found peace in the night
    But now I must go

    You made my night heaven
    I want so to stay
    But I’ve rainbows to chase
    Before they all fade away

    Come lay down beside me
    I’ll be back someday

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
