Danger in the Night

Danger in the Night

Like a river running through the field
turning under everything surreal
you take and make everyone feel alone
until you're gone

And the nighthawk circling high above
waiting for the defenseless dove
to kill for the thrill
and the meal

It's the Danger in the Night
the fear somethings not right
and it makes you want to fight
for your life

It's like the first time down
then your feet finally touch ground
and you search until you've found
the knife

Pick it up and cut away the strings
and attachment to material things
feel the joy true freedom brings to your soul
Now you are whole

Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion.
