Death

Death

I lay here bleeding, gasping for air as I die, clutching the impliment of my demise still lodged in my chest .

Life elsewhere continues and I wonder will I even be missed ? will any notice right away that im not around?

I can hear Death's footsteps drawing near.... I am ready for my journey.

While I wait for Death to take my hand my life passes before me and I am content with my actions.

The note explains all in detail , but now I must go.... Death can no longer wait .

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
