Now I lay me down to sleep, all alone I begin to weep, Will i forever be alone in this tomb I call a home?

Feelings too strong to bear , make their way into the air, To smile never more never more this is what i fear.

Stop my heart so it beats no more, then maybe this feeling i'll be  o'er

Lay me down to rest, place a rose on my chest. Force a smile on my face leave me in my resting place.

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
