Exploding Memories

Poem Commentary

A fight for life! A few years ago in the hospital with my partner, I was told that he would never survive the night. It was the night of the fourth of July. The agony of that night was shared with the sights of the fireworks and the sounds of the explosions. Since that time, the sounds of fireworks brings me back to that time. No matter what changes have been brought about with time, he has been given a second chance at life!

Exploding Memories

The sounds of fireworks exploding bring me to recall
a place in history; of which our love was able to heal all.

The medical parade with their systematic inspections
informing us of all their doomed projections.

Through the night your window reflecting sights of fireworks
but it will always be the exploding sounds in my memory which lurks.

That year the world can believe that it celebrated the fourth.
I do believe it was your life's battle sounds that poured forth.

Remember this ... there was a fight;
of which you won the war that night.

Since that time a myriad of acts have transpired.
It was through those exploding sounds, that your life was rewired.

You have the life to hold so dear
brought to you folks from yesteryear!

how precious life is and to have a reminder really helps keep our priority in focus. Glad your partner is doing better. Treasure each moment shared because it is a victory over death's sting. Well written.........E

If I feel physically as if the top of my head were taken off, I know that is poetry.
