    Eyes In The Dark

    Eyes In The Dark

    Like huge, unblinking eyes
    lights reflect from polished granite,
    showing what I know
and yet fear each time to see:
    all dates filled in,
    cruelly engraved like my heart.

I think I've read this 4or 5 times and I feel like I'm in a dream. What I keep seeing is a full moon, bright as the sun, illuminating the path ahead. There at the end of my path is a granite slab. A tombstone signifying the death of love? Good write, TS

Thank you. The shining light reflects really well on the polished surface of a tombstone.

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
