The Love of Speed

The Love of Speed

It's a race!
She flies along,
head thrown back,
eyes gleaming, all the while
her adversary floats,
keeping pace effortlessly.
This race, though,
is not about winning
but the Love of Speed,
the joy of flapping hair,
the kiss of wind on skin.
It's such a thrill--the chance
to compete against the moon,
to feel her golden glow
on shining, streaming hair.

Horseplay or childsplay, it is life against the forces of nature. Sooner or later, the adversary wins. But life in motion is always a thrill.

I love poems like this. In my mind I can feel my brain racing towards the end. Being on the topic of racing and speed, you definitely captured both with the quick movement from line to line. Bravo!

Thanks!

Poetry is when an emotion has found its thought and the thought has found words.
